Setting Up Dial Up Connection Using XP


From your desktop: Double click on "My Computer"
From "My Computer": Double click on "Control Panel"
From "Control Panel": Double click on "Internet Properties"
From "Internet Properties": Left click once on "Connections"
On the right side of that box , left click on "Add".

Make sure "dial-up to a private network" is selected and click Next.
Type in the phone number you use to dial in to your account and click Next.
Name your connection "GroLen" and click Finish.

From the next screen make sure "Automatically Detect Settings" is selected.

Enter your account information at the bottom of the screen:
     User Name: 1234@grolen.com (minus the @grolen.com)
     Password: ******* (you chose this upon signup)
     Domain: Leave this box empty

Click "Properties"
From the next screen, click "Options"
Un-select "Prompt for name, password, certificate, etc……"
"Prompt for phone number"
Select "Networking" and make sure "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" is checked as well as "Client for Microsoft Networks"

Make sure "Internet Protocols (TCP/IP)" is highlighted (blue) and click on "Properties".
Make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically" is selected as well as "Obtain a DNS server address automatically".

Click "Advanced"
Under the "General" tab, make sure "use default gateway" and "use IP header compression" are checked.

Click OK until you are out of all the screens and are back to your desktop.

Your Done!!  Double click on "Internet Explorer" to get online.
